 Militants to cancel fake elections tomorrow, - Poroshenko to heads of factions. PHOTO

President of Ukraine Poroshenko met with the leaders of factions in the Verkhovna Rada and gave details of the outcome of the "Normandy Four" talks which took place on Oct. 2 in Paris.

"I have been informed that tomorrow militants will cancel the fake elections scheduled for Oct. 18 and Nov. 1," Poroshenko said to faction leaders.

He noted that "there is no other way to resolve the crisis in the Donbas than holding real elections under Ukrainian laws, meeting all OSCE criteria."

The president reiterated his firm position regarding mandatory involvement of Ukrainian political parties and Ukraine's Central Election Commission, unimpeded activity of Ukrainian mass media, and provision of the right for internally displaced persons to participate in these elections.

The meeting with the leaders of parliamentary factions was also attended by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk and NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.
