The delegation is headed by Lt. Col. Robert Swertfager, 144th Fighter Wing California Air National Guard commander and Maj. Gen. Ihor Cherepenko, Ukrainian Air Force acting commander-in-chief, Censor.NET reports citing the Defense Ministry press service.
The meeting is intended to cover issues concerning the progress in implementation of bilateral military cooperation activities, which were previously scheduled and are to be implemented this year upon the results of work of the Air Force sub-committee operating in the framework of the Ukrainian-U.S. Joint Coordinating Committee for Military Cooperation and Defense Reform.
Cherepenko said he hoped this meeting would strengthen the U.S. and Ukrainian Air Force relations and bring new cooperation opportunities.
Lt. Col. Robert Swertfager thanked the Ukrainian side for the warm reception and stressed the importance of the meeting.
The Ukrainian side opened the meeting with a briefing-presentation on the progress in implementation of bilateral military cooperation activities. The two sides will also discuss the prospects of military cooperation between the 144th Fighter Wing California Air National Guard and Ukraine's Air Force.
According to the program, during the stay, the American party is planning a working meeting on the territory of Ukraine's aviation brigade, where the sides will consider a possible future visit of the 144th Fighter Wing California Air National Guard to Ukraine's Air Force aviation brigade as well as promising areas of work for 2016.
