Former governor of the Kyiv region and ally of ex-president Viktor Yushchenko Vera Ulianchenko, announced wanted by the Security Service of Ukraine, has not escaped the capital.

As reported by Censor.NET, TSN journalists met Ulianchenko in her office in Kyiv.

Earlier, Ulianchenko picture appeared on the official website of the Interior Ministry in the "Individuals hiding from the authorities" section.

As noted by Ulianchenko's press office in a press release sent to Ukrainska Pravda, the former governor of the Kyiv region is staying in the capital and is not hiding from the investigation. According to the ex-governor, the fact she is wanted is "either a provocation or lame work of law enforcement bodies."

The statement also notes that Ulianchenko has been in Kyiv since July 2015 and has not left Ukraine during this period. Moreover, she "regularly and voluntarily cooperates with investigators of the Prosecutor General 's Office under an open criminal proceeding."

"Ulianchenko is not hiding from the investigation, her office and fund "Velyka Rodyna" operating as usual. Therefore, there is no reason to think so," the statement reads.

The ex-governor is officially charged with "conversion, embezzlement, or distress of property by abuse of position."

The media have speculated that it could be a transfer of hunting grounds in Sukholuchchia to Viktor Yanukovych. Earlier, the PGO confirmed to be investigating into the fact.

According to law enforcement, Ulianchenko disappeared on June 30, 2015. Those aware of her whereabouts are asked to report to the SBU. At the same time, the SBU said that the case of the former head of the Kyiv regional state administration is currently run by the PGO.
