As reported by a soldier from the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Bulatov on his Facebook page, the attack was organized by the "LPR" illegal armed gang, including Russian special services: "Sabotage and reconnaissance group of the enemy consisting of three people mined the railway line on the Ukraine-controlled territory. According to witnesses, a train with coal was moving from the "LPR" to the Luhansk TPP owned by an infamous oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. They laid two TM-62M mines, one under each rail. The mine bears 7.5 kg of TNT and is equipped with four TNT blocks 400 g each as a fuse. There is a wire connected to explosion, which is triggered with a nine-volt battery on the other end of the wire."

Bulatov also notes the enemy mined the track on its curve, where visibility is rather poor. "They stretched a wire and hid. When the train was moving, they triggered the mines. One exploded, the second did not through bad planting. They made an obvious mistake. One of the saboteurs lay down near the track and was hit by rubble scattered as a result of the explosion. He was obviously shell-shocked. The other two lay in a wood line close to the track for covering actions. Two last wagons derailed. The rest is fine."

"Security measures have been stepped up, with preventive measures having been taken for the future. Serious and thorough measures," Bulatov wrote.
