Rada elected judges who persecuted Euromaidan protesters: some activists also voted for their appointment, - journalist. DOCUMENT

On May 21, people’s deputies voted on appointment of judges. Among those elected there were judges who sentenced activists of Euromaidan and Demalians political party for having picketed Mezhyhiria [former president Yanukovych’s residence – Ed.]. These judges have also banned protest actions during Euromaidan events in different regions of Ukraine. Among the deputies who voted for their appointment, there were those who used to be the Euromaidan activists themselves.

Journalist and blogger Serhii Ivanov wrote in his blog for Ukrainska Pravda, Censor.NET reports.

On May 21, Ukrainian deputies voted for the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada No. 479-VIII "On election of judges". 236 MPs foted in favor, two were against, 55 refrained, and 52 did not vote at all.

"If we look through the list of the newly elected judges, we'll see the name of Iryna Yukhno, former judge of the Dnipropetrovsk Circuit Administrative Court, who is well remembered by activists of Nikopol [Zaporizhia region] Euromaidan. Iryna Yukhno restricted the Nikopol Svoboda party branch in realization of their right on holding demonstrations by banning them from putting out tents and temporary constructions, meetings and demonstrations in the city of Nikopol during the Euromaidan events from Jan. 17, 2014 through Feb. 16, 2014. And from now on Iryna will work in Zhytomyr Circuit Administrative Court," the journalist said.

"Besides Yukhno, we can congratulate Judge Oleksii Rudiuk, former Vyshhorod district court of the Kyiv region, who deprived Automaidan activists of their driving licenses. It is peculiar that these decisions are not included in the Unified registry of court decisions, though there are details on appeals. Besides, in April 2013 Rudiuk made a decision about administrative arrest of Maksym Panov, Head of Demokratychnyi Alians party Kyiv branch for picketing the national Corruption museum named Mezhyhiria," Ivanov added.

Here is a photocopy of the judge Rudiuk's decision on Mezhyhiria.

"Presumably all these facts of selfless service to Themis have helped Oleksii become the judge of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi city district court of the Kyiv region. Moreover, he gave the word of honor that he was not a subject of lustration and even recorded that on paper," the blogger wrote.

"Now let's see who and how voted on that decision. We'll start with the presidential bloc… I can't believe my eyes. Sveta Zalishchuk gave her vote for the judge who administratively arrested a Demalians activist, the party which she publicly supported a year ago," he said.

"Let' go further… Serhii Leshchenko? … Didn't you know that you will surely find persons on the list of judges who have something to do with repressions? Or it is your principled position to give a new chance to old Portnov and Kivalov cadres?..." Ivanov resents.

"And now Mustafa [Naiem, MP - ed.]. Thank you for having refrained," he stressed.

"It is interesting to see how the so-called Opposition bloc voted. I've recorded its sinful ties with the presidential bloc earlier at the parliamentary elections. No comment, so to say," the journalist added.

"To be fair, people who've supported judges from Yanukovych regime eppoch were found in all factions and groups. I don't know what in particular moved them to do so, but I don't want to know that," the blogger pointed out.
