 Head of Kryvyi Rih District Council detained for bribery - interior Minister. PHOTOS

According to the Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the head of the Dzerzhynskyi District Council of Kryvyi Rih was detained today for taking bribes.

This was stated by the minister on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

Avakov stated: "Today, Head of the Dzerzhynskyi District Council of Kryvyi Rih Stepaniuk Serhii was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Proceedings Code of Ukraine (caught red-handed at the scene of the crime), and under pt. 3 Art. 368 of the CCP (from 5 to 10 years).

He was charged on suspicion of abuse of power, taking a bribe of 60,000 hryvnia for issuing permits to place kiosks.

Under the instructions of the bribe-taker, the money was transferred to an account of his wife's brother. It did not help the perpetrator to escape punishment."

The Minister stressed: "Stepaniuk was detained in his office in the process of transferring the permits. The personal security of the official tried to resist the operatives and was localized. An arsenal of weapons was found in the office.

The matter is not relatively small bribe but the curbing of the corruption system, in this case in the area of Kryvyi Rih. This is important. Another district kinglet, "owner of the district" was stopped.
