A group of about 15 youngsters (some wearing balaclavas) ran down the alley and roadway of Lavrska street and Lavrskyi decent -along the territory of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
Law enforcers ran after the young people, which resulted in a clash during detention. Some of the young people from the group escaped.
About 10 young people were taken by law enforcement officers to a paddy wagon. The vehicle with the detainees had already left Lavrska street.
The incident did not affect the Communists' event, they continued their activities.
About 30 young people in balaclavas tried to go to the venue of the rally, but law enforcement officers prevented them, which resulted in a fight during which the young masked men received minor injuries.
"We, being citizens of Ukraine, came to the museum and want to take part in the action, but law enforcement officers have not allowed us and beaten us up slightly," one of the young masked men told reporters.
Currently the scuffle subsided, but the people in balaclavas are trying to penetrate the Communist rally through the other side of the park.
Later, the press service of the metropolitan police reported that 19 young men in masks, who were trying to provoke the protesters near the Museum of the Great Patriotic War were detained.
According to the police, the detainees were taken to one of the police stations to clarify the circumstances. Law enforcement officials were forced to resort to detention in order not to aggravate the situation and prevent provocations and confrontations, the main police department noted.
Currently the Communist rally is surrounded by police officers from all sides.
