The first hearing was attended by numerous media, including Russian federal, Crimean, and Ukrainian ones. The biggest courtroom was selected for the occasion. The hearing will include an indictment against Oleksandr Kostenko, as well as witness testimony.
The prosecutor in this case is "Russian prosecutor of Crimea" Natalia Poklonskaya.
Kostenko did not answer reporters' questions as to whether he admits guilt.
Crimean Euromaidan activist Oleksandr Kostenko was arrested in Crimea on Feb. 8, 2015. On March 24 his case was transferred to Kyiv district court of Simferopol. On April 4 court extended his detention for two months. The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the Kherson region began pre-trial investigation into the illegal arrest of the activist by Crimean authorities.
