On Easter night the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and his family visited services in three cathedrals in Kyiv representing three Eastern Christian denominations.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the president.

President Petro Poroshenko attended the services with his wife Maryna, daughters Euhenia and Oleksandra, and son Mykhailo. "In the Vladymyr Cathedral the presidential family held a sacred procession together with Filaret, the Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate," the report reads.

"After that they took part in the Easter service held by Patriarch Filaret. Next the President attended the Easter liturgy held by the Supreme Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav. Then the head of state joined the Eastern prayer at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The service in the Refectory church was held by the Metropolitan Onufrius, primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate," the press service writes.

Today, on Sunday, April 12, the Orthodox Christians and Greek Catholics celebrate Easter.
