Stanislav Melnyk, the Verkhovna Rada deputy of the fifth and sixth convocations and a member of the Party of Regions committed suicide Monday evening (March 9) in the Kyiv region.

Sources in law enforcement agencies informed TSN, Censor.NET reports.

It is reported that the 53-year-old former Verkhovna Rada deputy left a suicide note in which he asked everyone's forgiveness. Stanislav Melnyk headed 'Donetsk Brewery' Joint Venture for six years. He was CEO of 'Lux' JSC in Donetsk from 2005 until he was elected the Verkhovna Rada deputy. Melnyk was also a member of the Donetsk City Council in 2002-2006.

"Another disheartening suicide of the former member of the Party of Regions took place - we lost Stanislav Melnyk this time. Suicidal depression among members of the Party of Regions is reaching epidemic proportions. 'Lux' JSC and Sarmat brewery are known to be owned by Rinat Akhmetov.

Earlier, Mykhailo Chechetov, the former Verkhovna Rada deputy and the Party of Regions ex-member suspected of promoting adoption of dictatorial laws on January 16, 2014, jumped out of a window in his apartment on the 17th floor Feb. 28.
