An explosion at a pro-Ukrainian rally in the city of Kharkiv has left two people dead and scores 15 injured according to preliminary data.

The explosion happenned at 1:20 p.m. at a peaceful rally of EuroMaidan activists in the city of Kharkiv, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to preliminary data, 15 people have suffered, among them were five police officers. Two people were killed on the spot. According to the Interior Ministry, the cause of the explosion has not yet been established.

A police officer and a leader of Kharkiv's EuroMaidan movement, Ihor Rassokha, are among the dead, journalists at the scene reported.

At the moment, the victims are assisted and taken to medical facilities. Head of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region Anatolii Dmitriev said that he suspects a terrorist act. The work of the investigators at the scene is under his personal control.

The explosive was detonated as hundreds of people marched in Ukraine's second most populated city, after which a service and prayers were due to be held to commemorate the victims of last year's Euromaidan revolution. The rally continued even after the attack.
