Yesterday, during a reconnaissance search a prominent Ukrainian soldier, commander of the 73rd Special Purpose Marine Center, 1st Rank Captain Yurii Olefirenko was killed near Mariupol.

Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov wrote on his Facebook page.

"Yesterday, during a reconnaissance search a prominent Ukrainian soldier, a talented and fearless man, whom his colleagues called commando №1, commander of the 73rd Special Purpose Marine Center, 1st Rank Captain Yurii Olefirenko was killed near Mariupol. Special Forces were the most important thing in his life. He graduated the Ryazan Airborne School, and was assigned to the most active company called Kabul company. Olefirenko voluntarily asked to extend his mission and completed four years of combat operations in Afghanistan, where he was awarded orders and medals," Butusov writes.

According to Butusov, outstanding intellectual abilities allowed Olefirenko to perfectly explore Farsi during the war, despite permanent active hostilities.
