The event was held on the initiative of the sector command, representatives of NGOs and local authorities, Censor.NET reports citing the Defense Ministry press service.
According to the exercise script, the disgruntled citizens in civil clothes blocked an administrative building.
A joint patrol of volunteer battalions' soldiers and local activists immediately arrived to the site. The army commandos came to help the patrol after the unsuccessful attempt to localize the conflict. The public order offenders were arrested and handed over to the competent authorities as a result of the operation.
"Fruitful cooperation of the anti-terrorist operation forces with local authorities and patriotic citizens is developing. So, we have recently introduced joint patrols after the proper training of the self-defense members. We tested the readiness of Mariupol self-defense teams to work together with the military today and I am glad to state that we have successfully coped with the task," head of the department of civil-military cooperation sector Colonel Yurii Piskun said.
According to organizers, they plan to continue working out joint actions to restore public order in a variety of conditions both in Mariupol and beyond.
