According to photo evidence and proof, this regiment was transferred to the Rostov region in the end of September 2014 and is currently based near Millerovo airfield (base camp of the Rostov invasion forces).
There are no details about the makeup of the regiment, however we assume that the reactive brigade is represented by one division and four 300-mm Smerch multiple rocket launchers (MRLS). Military personnel of the division undergo periodic rotation and mostly consist of the military contractors (not conscripts).
Reference: the 79th Guard Reactive Artillery Novozybkovo Red Banner Suvorov Order Alexander Nevsky Brigade (unit 53956 of the Western Military District) is based in Tambov, Russian Federation. The brigade is equipped with 12 units of 300-mm Smerch MRLSs (9A52) and three reactive artillery divisions (four armored vehicles in each). As of 2013, the brigade Commander was colonel Oskolkov.
