Two members of the Dnipro-1 police regiment, police lieutenants Andrii Pustovyi and Ilia Sydorenko were shot and injured by a sniper at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 as they were patrolling the outskirts of Marinka town, the Donetsk region.

Director of Interior Ministry’s Communications Department Artem Shevchenko wrote on social media, Censor.NET reports.

"The police officers at the forefront engage with the enemy risking their lives. The bullets hit their body armor and stocks of their assault rifles which actually saved their lives. Both of them cheated death. They are happy because they are still alive," the spokesperson said adding that the doctors do not consider their injuries to be life-threatening. The policemen were taken to the Dnipro City-based Mechnikov hospital.
