Mariupol Citizens Digging Trenches to Prevent Russian Invasion. PHOTOS

Mariupol locals gathered on Lenin Square this morning striving to help in strengthening the checkpoints at the entrances to the city.

People responded to the call at yesterday's rally "For Peace" which urged the residents of the city to come to the checkpoints and dig the trenches to strengthen the defense of the city, Censor.NET reports citing the local website 0629. Volunteer organizations association "Novyi Mariupol" with the participation of representatives of the charitable organization "Respublika "Piligrim" provided transportation, gloves and shovels to volunteers.

The volunteers were divided into two groups, which started to work at checkpoints located at the entrances to the city in the areas of Shidnyi and Vynohradne residential neighborhoods.

"Today Mariupol is similar in spirit to the Maydan! The citizens are eager to send Putin's terrorists feed Azov sea fish! Everyone is busy with some activity; the level of self-organization is awesome! The youth is digging anti-tank ditches, men are building and strengthen the roadblocks, and women are tailoring sniper camouflage. I am sure that we are invincible with such people!" Yehor Firsov, member of the Parliament, wrote this on his page on Facebook
