According to the report, the Russian security services created a top secret station. They were planning to seize power and establish a puppet Odessa People's Republic. The Security Service has established that the headquarters of the station included up to 50 people. Everyone had a role in the planned rebellion. The plan was a violent seizure of power, combat groups operation upon a signal from Russia.
"On July 9, Odessa Security Service detained the organizer of this sabotage and subversive network - Russian citizen Alexander Yakimenko and co-organizer, Ukrainian citizen citizen Yurii Trofimov. The criminals planned to involve seven militant groups for sabotage of vital services infrastructure of the Odesa region. They were preparing terrorist acts against government officials and foreign nationals. The provocateurs had to incite artificial conflicts between the regions' residents," the SBU noted.
During a search of the detainees the officers seized Russian intelligence guidelines, detailed topographic maps with marked locations of military and strategic facilities in the region and data on the defense systems. SBU seized lists of local militants with their call signs and detailed sabotage tasks.
They also found documents with saboteurs' cost sheet which indicated the network's funding from Russia and receipts for cash received. During a search of the homes of detainees an arsenal of weapons was discovered - combat and traumatic guns, ammunition.
The questioning continues. The SBU is determining and detaining the accomplices of the saboteurs.
