 Defamation Law Protests near Parliament - Third of the Journalists will be Imprisoned. PHOTOS

Journalists are protesting the Regions deputy Zhuravskiy defamation law near the Parliementary committees building in downtown Kiev.

Censor.NET reports that there are 300 protesters near the committe buildings.

Among them there are numerous famous journalists such as Mykola Knyazhytskyy, Mustafa Nayem, Andriy Kulikov, Olha Chervakova, Serhiy Leschenko, Tetyana Danyleno and others.

Media representatives are holding blank posters symbolizing the way newspapers will look after the bill is passed. Moreover, some protesters hold banners reading: "What the people think about th regime is defamation", "Defamation law is for deputies hiding their crimes", "Propresidential majority is destroying the freedom of speech in Ukraine".

The deputies entering the building are greeted with shouts of "Shame".

It should be noted that there are regular people partial to the fate of Ukrainian media are protesting alongside the journalists. During the meeting the participants were offered to address the foreign consulates and embassies asking not to issue visas to people who voted for the law. Journalists argue that this is an anti-democratic bill.

The participants blocked a part of the road impreding the traffic. There are tens of policemen by the road which are making sure that the traffic is not blocked off completely.
