The investigators consider that five political analysts who died in the road traffic accident near Rivne in early September were killed willfully.
According to the court ruling, the pre-trial investigation found that the driver of the DAF truck willfully collided with a car carrying political analysts Olexander Maslak, Oleksii Kurinnyi, Oleksandr Nykanorov, journalist Volodymyr Karahiaur, and Serhii Popov, the former deputy head of the Donetsk military and civil administration.
The investigation also designated another person allegedly involved in the deadly road accident and requested the Pechersk court to authorize seizure of this person's cellphone and order the mobile network operator to submit transcripts of the suspect's calls. The court granted the prosecutor's office request.
As reported, the accident occurred at 6:54 a.m. Sept. 6 at Kyiv-Warsaw motorway in Masevychi village area, the Rivne region. Four persons were killed on spot, the fifth victim of the crash died in a hospital after their Opel Omega crashed into a DAF timber truck that morning.
The people killed in the accident were political analysts Olexander Maslak, Oleksii Kurinnyi, Oleksandr Nykanorov, and journalist Volodymyr Karahiaur. Former Deputy Head of the Donetsk military and civil administration Serhii Popov subsequently died at intensive care unit.
