"The long-awaited peace will soon come to the Ukrainian land. This is what I, as President of Ukraine, and the lion's share of Ukrainians are striving for," Poroshenko said opening "The Imaginary Guide: Japan" exhibition.
He added that this peace can be achieved, inter alia, with the help of peacekeepers - "blue helmets" under the mandate of the UN Security Council. "And this decision, if and when it is adopted, will also be approved with the help of our Japanese partners," Poroshenko stressed.
"I can emphasize that Japan is an extremely important strategic partner of Ukraine. Japan is a true friend," the president said, adding that in 2014, since the first minutes of the annexation of Crimea by Russia, Ukraine has immediately felt a reliable shoulder of a friend.
Poroshenko expressed gratitude for Japan's firm policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea, condemnation of Russia's aggression in the east of Ukraine, support for the resolution of the UN General Assembly, co-sponsored by Japan, as well as clear and consistent adherence to the sanctions policy against Russia.
