Yulia Tolopa, call sign Valkiria, who came to Ukraine from the Russian Federation to fight against separatists and Russian troops in the Donbas, has been unable to obtain Ukrainian citizenship for the third year.

"I have been struggling to obtain Ukrainian nationality for three years but to no avail. Nether lawmakers, nor the Migration Service, nor the Presidential Administration provided a meaningful answer why I still cannot solve this issue," she wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

Tolopa says she cannot influence the process since she does not "see the enemy."

"I have been fighting in the so-called anti-terrorist operation (although everyone well knows that this is a real war). But there you at least know whom you are fighting against, you see the enemy. When you return to civilian life, you have to fight again, here on the peaceful ground, for the right to live, to live officially, without fear of being thrown out from the country which I defend with deadly force. But there is a problem - I see no enemy here, I cannot identify him. I have to fight against him blindly," the volunteer soldier wrote.

No matter what, Tolopa says she has no intent to back down.

"I did not surrender at the fore front, and I will not surrender here! It's a matter of principle for me now! I proved worthy of becoming a citizen of the country which I fight for," she summed up.
