"We may have a meeting with Putin," Trump said.
"Putin is very important because they can help us with North Korea, they can help us with Syria. We have to talk about Ukraine," the president added.
Earlier, Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, surrendered to federal authorities after he was indicted Monday on charges that he funneled millions of dollars through overseas shell companies. The charges against Manafort and his longtime associate Rick Gates represent a significant escalation in a special counsel investigation that has cast a shadow over Trump's first year in office.
