Ukrainian lawmaker Levus: National Security Committee to address attack on Odesa military base

Recent attack on the military unit in Odesa will be discussed at the Verkhovna Rada’s National Security and Defense Committee meeting.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was said by a Committee member, Peoples Front MP Andrii Levus on Facebook.

"It had to be a summary execution on the spot. The attack on the military unit in Odesa will be addressed at the meeting of the National Security Committee. Whoever was behind the attack and whatever motives the attackers had, they must be punished. The Odesa police call it an infiltration carried out by "house painters." These painters should have already been arrested on serious charges. They even had to be shot dead if the military fulfilled regulations. This issue will definitely be the subject of discussion at the meeting of the parliament's National Security and Defense Committee," the lawmaker said.

"I must remind that it took place on the backdrop of four incidents at ammunition depots ... The inaction of the military will also be the subject of consideration," Levus said.

The MP also recalls that the garrison standard operating procedures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces provide that a sentry must use lethal force without warning in case of an explicit attack on him or on the facility he is guarding.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military authorities reported about the unsuccessful attempt to seize a military unit in Odesa committed by some 40 individuals wearing balaclavas.
