The Ukrainian side is sure that the conflict in the Donbas will be settled as soon as a U.N. peacekeeping mission is deployed there.

This was stated by Ukraine's permanent representative to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko, Censor.NET reports referring to mission's Twitter page.

"We firmly believe that a comprehensive settlement of the conflict can be achieved with deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping mission", - Yelchenko said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during his visit to Avdiivka he was doing his utmost to ensure that peacekeepers would be finally deployed in the Donbas.

"I'm doing my best for peacekeepers to be deployed in the Donbas. This will lead to the end of hostilities in the Donbas, which, in turn, will signify that together we have brought peace to the Donbas," the head of state said.

According to him, the peacekeepers will take control of the uncontrolled part of the Russia-Ukraine border so that Russian troops, weapons and tanks will not penetrate the Ukrainian territory.
