Ukraine's Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov promises to submit legislative initiatives at Cabinet's Wednesday meeting, seeking to toughen responsibility for causing road accidents.

Censor.NET reports referring to 112 Ukraine quoting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov as commenting on the recent deadly traffic accident in downtown Kharkiv.

"The inevitability of punishment must be ensured by clearly drafted laws and a judicial decision. I think that at Cabinet's meeting this Wednesday we'll offer some initiatives on legislative amendments to be introduced in the Verkhovna Rada. Taking into account such a public outcry as well as the fact that since last year the number of road accidents, including the fatal ones, have increased by 13%, I think we should react somehow. And this legislative initiative that we are going to offer will consist of 5-6 points, with some of them being already in the parliament and concerning photo and video recording," he said.
