Censor.NET correspondent reports from the court room in Kharkiv.
Prosecutor Maksym Blokhin requested custody without bail for 20-year-old Olena Zaitseva, whose Lexus hit and killed five people in a car crash in Kharkiv on Wednesday.
The prosecutor says that while at large, Zaitseva might try to influence witnesses, in particular, a girl who was with her during the car accident and hasn't testified yet.
More risks include possible attempts by Zaitseva to influence the investigation. The prosecutor also said that during medical examination, Zaitseva was trying to get hospitalized, but there were no grounds for that.
He also requested to add a document from medical examination to the case, which document proves that at the moment of the car accident, Zaitseva was under influence of opiates.
Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region approved the indictment to 20-year-old local Olena Zaitseva for violation of traffic rules that led to the death of five people (part 3 article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As reported, at around 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 18, a Lexus crashed into a pedestrian crowd in Kharkiv, killing five on spot and wounding six people. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, has been detained.
