If Rada retains its courage, MPs will abolish parliamentary immunity during next session, - Poroshenko

порошенко

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said putting the voting on immunity lifting bills into Rada's agenda was "a responsible political step."

The president wrote on Facebook yesterday, Oct. 19, Censor.NET reports.

"As promised, the immunity [of parliament members - ed.] will be abolished in Ukraine. Last year, we deprived judges from unlimited immunity.

"We should do justice to MPs - today they did a responsible political step to abolishing their own privilege. I believe on its next session, the Verkhovna Rada will retain its courage and give 300 votes for final and definitive solution of this problem.

"I expect those who have been building ad campaigns on immunity matter these days do not change their position when they see this is no longer PR but a new reality," Poroshenko wrote.
