President Petro Poroshenko told a briefing after his meeting with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kyiv on Monday, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine.
"Only in six months of this year, trade turnover between Ukraine and Turkey increased by almost 20 percent. The level of Turkish investments in Ukraine's economy grew significantly. Turkey became one of top five trade partners of Ukraine and top 10 foreign investors in Ukraine," the president said.
He said the strategic partnership between the two countries is strengthening.
"Both the long-awaited bilateral agreement on investment protection and amendments that were introduced to our agreement in order to avoid double taxation will be an additional impetus for bilateral cooperation. It's important to say that the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey is not abstraction, it has a powerful practical component that is constantly strengthened," Poroshenko said.
He also announced deeper cooperation in defense sector, defense industry, and airspace sector.
"Today our agreements will definitely promote the increase of cooperation within mentioned directions," Poroshenko said.
Erdogan, in his turn, said Ukraine and Turkey intend to increase trade turnover between the two countries up to $10 billion.
