Several hundred activists and residents of Kyiv's Pozniaky district came out for a protest Wednesday night demanding the demolishing of the gas station that is being constructed at Revutskoho Street.

Censor.NET correspondent reported from the scene.

The situation around the gas station that is still being constructed has been very complicated. At first, the activists attempted to demolish the construction site. Later, the gas station was circled by police. Some people shouted "let the journalists go."

The participants of the yesterday's protest reported several prison buses were present at the site.

Eight paramedics operated at the scene. They said many people were wounded - some by a ruined fence, others by glass. One journalist was sprayed over his eyes with some gas. The person who did it, he said, was on the side of the police.

Kyiv city council member Oleksii Novikov was beaten and detained. Doctors said four attackers and one police member were wounded in the clash.

The conflict around the construction of the gas station at Revutskoho Street has lasted for several months. A number of demonstrations have been held, some of them ended with clashes. By now, the gas station has been almost finished.

Locals say the gas station is dangerous for their neighborhood as it is located too close to several schools and a lake.

In mid-July, Kyiv city council launched the process of terminating the lease agreement for the land plot under the gas station. In late July, the Kyiv city authorities said they reached an agreement with OKKO company to stop the construction. However, locals says it never stopped.

In August, the prosecutor's office filed a claim to demolish the station and stop any activities on the land plot.
