The decision was made by the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada following the discussion of the Kalynivka ammunition depot explosions, Censor.NET parliamentary correspondent reports.
The decision to ask for the dismissals was supported by the majority of the present committee members, two people abstained.
It was found out that the storage facilities in Kalynivka, the Vinnytsia region, were left without next to no security after the chief of the General Staff removed the guards with his order.
"This year, Kalynivka was checked three times - once by a Presidential Administration commission, and two times by a joint commission of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff. About 50 persons visited Kalynivka many times, signed some documents. Granted that there was no actual security in Kalynivka. Because the chief of the General Staff issued a decree in 2017 to remove the security from depots and arsenals. This decree exists," the head of the committee Serhii Pashynskyi said.
Deputy Defense Minister Ihor Pavlovskyi said that 25.537 million hryvnia were allocated for Kalynivka in 2017.
The committee is also supposed to discuss the situation with the explosions at the ammo depot in Kalynivka.
As reported, on Sept. 26 at around 10 p.m., State Emergency Service was reported of ammunition explosions in the military depot of the Defense Ministry in Kalynivka village. A Censor.NET source said that the explosions were heard in the village, and ammo was seen flying over the depot. The Kalynivka depot is more than 1,000 ha and packed with ammunition of various types.
As of 10 a.m. Sept. 27, more than 30,000 people have been evacuated. For that purpose, 50 buses, 10 ambulances, and Emergency Service psychologists were involved. Two people were traumatized and taken to hospitals.
