Poroshenko said in his address to the parliament members in Rada on Sept. 7, Censor.NET reports.
The president said he would demand that the parliament adopts the land reform, but will not exert pressure on MPs.
The new legislation, Poroshenko said, will protect the interests of small farmers.
"As a state official, I have to consider public opinion when making decisions. At the moment it has been formed by populists, unfortunately. I am not going to extort the land reform from the Verkhovna Rada. But I ask you to make a political decision in its favor - at least orally, at least in your mind, in your heart. To adopt laws that will at least take down the phobias that the public and the MPs have in its regard, laws that will take all warnings into account, set a minimum price, protect small farmers, create a transparent position in the registry, but will liberate the Ukrainian small farmers," Poroshenko said.
