A protest gathered at Hrushevskoho Street near Emporium store, where Maidan graffiti depicting Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko and Lesia Ukrainka had been destroyed earlier by the store ownership.

Censor.NET correspondent reports from the scene.

The activists broke and covered with graffiti the store's windows, threw eggs inside, and attempted burning tires at the porch.

Later, police arrived at the scene and tried to push the activists away from the entrance.

Earlier, the director of the store Ihor Dotsenko commented on Facebook post of journalist Tetiana Vysotska that the graffiti was "revolutionary pattern 'art'."

"All those who wish to buy this revolutionary pattern 'art,' visit any touristy bazaar, you will find Lesias, Ivans, and Taras' there of any size and form, from the same author," Dotsenko wrote.

"It's just typical street art that is regularly being cleaned up by community services. So calm down and don't make a tempest in a teapot," he wrote.
