The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv did not uphold the request of the prosecution to put Nestor Shufrych Jr under around-the-clock house arrest.

A Censor.NET correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The judge said that Shufrych Jr is charged with an unintentional crime and noted that the prosecution has failed to provide documents and medical certificates proving the injuries of the victim.

The court took account of suspect's social bonds, in particular the wife's pregnancy and positive references. The court acknowledged that the young man is reasonably suspected of committing a road accident, while the severity of inflicted injuries is to be proven by the investigation.

The court ordered the suspect to surrender travel passports, to appear upon the investigator's call, and not to change the place of residence without permission.

On Aug. 27 evening, son of Opposition Bloc lawmaker Nestor Shufrych, Nestor, hit a man on a pedestrian crossing. The victim was hospitalized with multiple injuries.

A video of first aid being given to the injured pedestrian was published online.

Following the incident, the police instituted a proceeding while the victim remains unconscious and in serious condition.

Shufrych Jr has been served an indictment.
