 Hrushevskoho Street blast: Investigators have several versions, - PGO

The Kyiv police along with the Prosecutor General's Office are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the explosion that occurred on Aug. 24, on Hrushevskoho Street in downtown Kyiv and injured three people.

Following the crime, corresponding information was entered into the Unified Register, while the incident is preliminary viewed as falling under part 2 of art. 15, item 5 of part 2 of art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted murder by a way that is dangerous for many people's lives).

The investigation is looking for the witnesses of the incident, examining records from the CCTV cameras near the crime scene. The Security Service of Ukraine is also involved in the investigation.

"The preliminary investigation is currently considering several versions of the commissioned crime, including an attempt on the life of a serviceman because of his professional activities, as well as hooliganism," the prosecution says.

Two victims - a man and a woman - were reported at the outset. Later the number of the injured on Hrushevskoho Street increased to three people. The injured were the wife, mother-in-law and a friend of Valerii Chibinieiev, the Hero of Ukraine, commander of the sniper company of the 79th Airmobile Brigade.

According to the SBU, hooliganism is considered to be among the key versions. Later he investigators said the explosion on Hrushevskoho was an "attempted murder."
