"Our Ukrainian Flag is a symbol of the invincibility of the spirit of the Ukrainian people and their will to win. I believe that our greatest victories in the name of Ukraine are still ahead, and the blue and yellow flag will be raised over Donetsk, Luhansk, Simferopol and Sevastopol!" wrote Poroshenko.
In his speech, PM Hroisman said he would like the national flag to further unite the Ukrainians from all parts of the country.
"I offer my congratulations on the Flag Day! Under this flag, the Ukrainians have been aspiring for independence and national unity. It symbolizes the beauty of our nature, the diligence and freedom of the people. Under the blue-yellow flag, our fearless soldiers defend the country from the aggressor. Let it further unite the Ukrainians from the east to the west and from the north to the south," said Hroisman.
Today, the Ukrainians celebrate the Day of the National Flag. The holiday was instituted by 2nd President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma in 2004.
In recent years, the day has seen a number of solemn, explanatory and educational events dedicated to the history of the National Flag and other state symbols of Ukraine, thematic conferences, and round table meetings being held throughout the country.
