 Leader of sabotage group of Russian secret services detained in Kharkiv, - SBU

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) together with the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office have detained the leader of a sabotage group of Russian secret services who was plotting terrorist attacks against Ukrainian state and public figures.

"The law enforcers established that the "commander" of one of the illegal armed formations of terrorists was recruited by a representative of Russia's General Staff's Main Intelligence Directorate.

"He received a task from a Russian curator to return to his home city of Kharkiv and form a subversive group. The militant received a list of Ukrainian political and public officials who were the targets of Russian secret services to organize terrorist attacks against them.

"During searches at the residence address of the criminal in Kharkiv, SBU officers seized almost one kilogram of explosives, five electric detonators, gun with a silencer, 100 rounds, and a military quadrocopter, which he planned to use for committing the terrorist attack.

"The detainee has been indicted of committing a crime under Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Custody was chosen for him as a measure of restraint. Urgent operational and investigative actions are under way," the report reads.
