From midnight July 26 Ukraine halted supply of electric power to the occupied areas of the Donetsk region.

This was announced by acting director of the supplier company, Ukrenerho, Vsevolod Kovalchuk on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

He wrote that on midnight of July 26, 2017, power exchange between Ukraine-controlled areas and separatist-controlled areas of the Donetsk region were stopped.

"The territory of ORDLO [controlled by self-styled Donbas republics - ed.] does not consume electricity produced by power plants in the controlled part of Ukraine so far. The needs of the occupied areas for the electric power are currently covered by Starobeshivska and Zuiivska thermal power plants and other producers, as well as by deliveries from the Russian Federation through lines that are excluded from the list of interstate ones. The power exchange on them is not conducted within the general balance of "Ukraine-Russia-Belarus," Kovalchuk wrote.
