Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov wrote in his article (in English).
He said after the conflict started, as the attackers opened fire upon ATO veterans, some of the veterans managed to open retaliate fire from a gun. This resulted in wounding all four of the attackers. As reported, two of them were gravely wounded, the other two received light wounds. All four are guarded in Mechnykova hospital.
Butusov wrote that Censor.NET's sources in Dnipro police said the attackers are members of organized crime and had been charged earlier, including for robbery.
Wounded attackers upon ATO veterans
"That was not some gang warfare. It was a criminal attack, an attack of criminals upon honest and decent citizens of Ukraine. As established, the reason was that Saakian [an attorney and former ATO fighter who was wounded in the attack - ed.] had a long time conflict regarding one of his businesses, and his commercial adversary decided to send killers. Obviously, the gangsters arrived to kill those who messed up with them," Butusov wrote.
As reported, in the evening of July 24, well-known volunteer fighter and attorney to victims of May 9 clashes in Dnipro Edmond Saakian was wounded by unknown persons from automated weapon. ATO veteran Oleksii Vahner, who served with Saakian in the 20th battalion of the 93rd brigade, was killed on spot. Another former ATO participant, Maksym Ivashchuk, received a fatal wound and died on his way to the hospital.
