Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian told NV in an interview, Censor.NET reports.
"My logic is as follows: Balczun reports, resigns, goes to the law enforcement agencies; new leadership is appointed who propose a new financial plan after they communicate with the business and guarantee that the tariff increase will be spent on modernization and improvement of the company. I see no other algorithm here," he said.
Answering a question whether Balczun succeeded in lowering the level of corruption in Ukrzaliznytsia, the minister said that it has significantly increased.
"Of course not. It only got worse with him. It has increased manyfold. I am not the only one to say that; the business says that, the law enforcement agencies say that. Ask SBU [Security Service of Ukraine - ed.].
"I appreciate their state stance. Every single week SBU, the National police, and PGO [Prosecutor's Office - ed.] conduct raids at the railway. Every single week we see arrests for bribes of tens of thousands of dollars," Omelian added.
