Censor.NET reports citing the brigade's press service on Facebook.
The brigade reported that the dug-out shelter the fighter was hiding in had been hit by a T-72 tank missile.
Kernychnyi had been in military service since 1996. He served in the 456th armored tank brigade in Havryshivka. Kernychnyi had been redeployed to the Donbas to serve in the 72nd Separate Motorized Brigade, and was killed on June 29 in enemy tank shelling of Ukrainian positions and nearby villages.
The hero is survived by his parents, wife, and underage son. Memorial ceremony and funeral took place on July 2 in Zhmerynka, the Vinnytsia region. In memory of Kernychnyi the town was in mourning on July 1 and 2, the message reads.
The press service of the brigade published a photo of the killed fighter and the aftermath of the three-day tank shelling - torn trees, burnt down houses, and the destroyed shelter.
