Law enforcers say it might as well have been a murder. Ukraine's army fighter fell off a window of a 9th floor apartment.

Censor.NET reports citing the National Police in Kyiv's press service.

Police received a call in the evening of June 22 about a male lying down near an apartment building at Buchmy Street, Kyiv's Berezniaky neighborhood. Upon arrival on the scene, the police identified the man as a 37-year-old Kyiv resident, a military who recently returned from the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area. The man died of the injuries he received from falling.

His body is being examined by forensic experts.

As established by the police, the deceased man was consuming alcohol that night with another two men he knew. They were drinking in the apartment belonging to one of the victim's companions, when he allegedly left for another room and then fell out of the window, as told by the apartment owner.

Criminal investigation has been initiated into the act of intended killing, but it also looks at other versions of the accident, including a casualty and a suicide.

Users on Facebook reported that the deceased man was a fighter of the 12th battalion Dmytro Smyrnov, who returned from the ATO area several days ago. He is survived by a young child.
