Ukraine's Prime Minister said during business trip to Zaporizhia on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"We are now studying the experience of Croatia's peaceful reintegration. I returned just yesterday. Croatia has a very important experience in such matters due to the events that took place in the Balkans," Hroisman said.
The prime minister said it is necessary to focus primarily on the needs of residents of the Donbas, who "are now living in the forced occupation by Russia and militants." In addition, he said, it is necessary to work on restoring the infrastructure of the occupied territories.
The PM said the joint working group comprised of representatives of the governments of Croatia and Ukraine will develop and adopt the experience that proved to be efficient in Croatia.
A plan for cooperation in reintegration of territories as part of a joint working group was signed during Hroisman's working visit to Croatia. The joint working group will shape mechanisms for settling the situation in the occupied territories so that they abide by the Minsk agreements and the Normandy format.
The cooperation plan of the Ukrainian-Croatian working group sets top priority tasks for 2017, including studying experience of Croatia in reintegration of occupied territories and return of internally displaced persons, restoration of trust of the population and infrastructure, attraction of international assistance and social support on the reintegrated territories.
