"We have to control who crosses our border. We are at war with Russia. So we must try and implement efficient control.
"I believe we should start using biometric passports. Then we should shift to the practice of trip announcements. This will allow for additional control for us," Ukraine's Foreign Minister Klimkin told a briefing in Odesa on Wednesday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
The minister stressed that this approach does not cancel the chances of introducing visa regime with Russia.
"We understand perfectly that visas no longer work the same way they used to 20 years ago. Everybody realized that visas in passports are getting outdated. The future belongs to electronic visas. We are working to have electronic visas," Klimkin said.
