Deputy head of PPB parliamentary faction, Presidential Envoy in Rada Iryna Lutsenko said introduction of visa regime with Russia under current conditions is inappropriate, Censor.NET reports citing zn.ua.
Lutsenko says these measures will be a high burden on Ukrainian taxpayers and will create additional problems for many Ukrainian citizens, including those working in Russia or living in occupied Crimea.
"If we say we are introducing the visa regime, we need at least 1.5 billion to 2 billion hryvnia for creation of various consulate offices. To set up new border guard control in the 'grey area.' Will this mean that we are dragging the state border inside the country?" Lutsenko said.
She added that the visa regime will not stop the Russian aggression nor prevent Russian saboteurs from entering Ukraine.
"As of today, there is no need to introduce the visa regime," Lutsenko summed up.
