As reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax-Ukraine, he told reporters before the 6th National Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv on Thursday.
"I believe this issue is not just timely, but more than timely. It needs to be implemented as soon as possible, this is for the better of the country," Turchynov said.
"We will have open entrance to Europe, so we have to build a wall in the east to protect the civilization from the Russian Federation's aggression, from penetration of hybrid provocation technologies of Russia to the West. Ukraine is the one that stands on Russia's way - probably, it's our historic mission," he explained.
Turchynov said that if Rada makes the decision to have visa regime with the Russian Federation, then its implementation should be elaborated by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, People's Front parliamentary faction offered to consider a bill on visa regime with Russia this week.
