Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"We have detained 25 persons involved in the case. Taking into account the scale of the operation, we bring them to a special center in Kyiv by helicopters. They are served indictments there and sent to court after that," he said.
Avakov wrote in a comment to his post that ex-Deputy Chief of the Dnipropetrovsk region's State Tax Service Hennadii Kozak became the 25th detained official.
"The 25th one was apprehended by the border guards and spetsnaz at Boryspil International Airport when he was trying to flee the country," he added.
The minister later reported about the detention of the 26th ex-tax official of Klymenko tenure.
"The 26th one was detained in a rented apartment in Truskavets and brought to Kyiv," he said adding that he meant Olha Hulka - chief of the State Tax Service Inspectorate of the Artemivskyi district of Luhansk.
Avakov also said that law enforcement officers seized about $1 million, 250,000 euros, and 2 kilos of gold from Kyiv's State Tax Service Chief Oleh Nyzenko. He also appeared to be the owner of Mercedes B250 and Volkswagen Phaeton, 15 paintings and five ancient icons.
As reported, the National Police and the Military Prosecutor's Office launched the special nationwide operation to detain senior officials of the former Inland Revenue Ministry of Ukraine on May 24.
