This was announced by the head of the State Border Service Viktor Nazarenko, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"Now we are completing all planned activities in the Kharkiv region, and we have already begun work in the Sumy and Luhansk regions," Nazarenko said.
In 2015, the government approved a three year plan of the development of the border infrastructure.
"From mid-2015 until today, we have built more than 273 km of anti-vehicle ditches, 47 km of control and track lanes, 83 km of barrier fence, and 153 km of rocky roads," Nazarenko said.
This year budget provides 200 million hryvnia for this program, which is only 17% of the needed sum.
Nazarenko said that the were no cases of the border violation reported at those sections of the border which have been already modernized. It confirms the effectiveness of the project.
