The Military Prosecutor's Office together with the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Kyiv have detained a group of three people who were engaged in extortion.

Censor.NET reports quoting Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko as saying on Facebook.

According to him, two lawyers and a man charged with intentional murder extorted $1.3 million from a private entrepreneur allegedly following a personal order by Ukraine's chief prosecutor. Otherwise, they threatened raids and physical violence.

"I want to thank the businessman for his trust. His message was the beginning of the end of this criminal group. If someone else is facing extortion in favor of prosecutors of any level, please, call us, we've got enough handcuffs," Lutsenko wrote.
