 Over 100 witnesses including high-ranking officials to testify against Yanukovych, - prosecutor

More than 100 people including Ukraine’s senior officials will give testimony in the case of high treason filed against Ukrainian ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

As reported by Censor.NET, member of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko said on air of Channel 5.

"They include the former and acting officials, the military who were serving in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev," Kravchenko said.

The prosecutor also named several Ukrainian officials: "Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Turchynov, Nalyvaichenko, Avakov, Parubii, who was interviewed during the pre-trial investigation, Yatseniuk, who was also questioned during the pre-trial investigation. All these witnesses will be summoned to the court."

As reported, Yanukovych is accused of committing criminal offenses under by part 1 of article 111 (high treason - punished by imprisonment for a period of 10 to 15 years), part 3 of article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which led to the death of people or other grave consequences - punished by imprisonment for a period of 7 to 12 years), part 2 of article 437 (waging of a war of aggression or aggressive military actions - punished by imprisonment for a period of 10 to 15 years), part 5 of article 27 (it punishes an accomplice as an assisting offender) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Earlier, Obolonskyi district court of Kyiv adjourned its private session on the treason case against Ukraine's ex-president Yanukovych for May 18.
