According to him, the enemy uses anti-aircraft missile systems trying to prevent Ukrainian drones from carrying out reconnaissance flights over certain positions of its units.
"This is an important intelligence sign, which, in my opinion indicates redeployment of additional units of the Russian regular army to these directions. This also demonstrates the enemy's concern about Ukrainian intelligence carrying out aerial reconnaissance using UAVs," Butusov wrote.
The journalist noted that "the use of expensive anti-aircraft missiles to defeat cheap unmanned aerial vehicles shows that the Russian command wants to enhance security of certain facilities. These actions are caused by the awareness of the vulnerability of their positions and are aimed at covering the areas of concentration of some new forces."
"I think that given the huge manpower shortage and permanent losses among the infantry of the Russian army corps in combat operations and desertion caused by low motivation and morale, the enemy closes this personnel gap by deploying Russian regular troops as tactical reserves and fire support.
"Such intensity in the enemy's activity and new measures may be linked to the creation of the new 8th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation at the border with the Donbas, which strategically united the entire Russian task force in the Donbas.
"The deployment of permanent readiness units of this army including the newly created 150th motorized rifle division with its base located directly at the border with Ukraine (Millerovo, Kadamovsky) indicates that it is the nearest operational reserve of the occupation corps. The enemy plans that the 150th division will reach its maximum combat readiness in May 2017," Butusov summed up.
